Tidwell inherited a love of stories from her mother and grandmother, who were both well known storytellers. She enjoys writing and has written for her school newspaper and yearbook, done a writing internship, and won a writing contest. After serving an LDS mission to Ireland, she married her husband Peter in 2006.
