  • "Preface to the Second Edition. Five thousand of the following letter have been sold in the short space of four weeks, and many hundreds called for. A second edition is now offered to the public. The author sincerely hopes that it may have the desired effect, in awakening many to the things that belong to their peace."
  • This is the second issue of the second edition of Parley Pratt's famous letter to Queen Victoria. It is an important issue inasmuch as the Preface to the Second Edition on the title page provides the information regarding the size and timing of the first two editions. This first issue of the second edition is distinguished from this second issue by the phrase, "Second edition.--Sixth thousand," which is not present on the first issue of the second edition
