Summary
In this video, viewers will be introduced to principles of using augmentative and alternative communication with people who have aphasia. The challenges of using AAC with people who have aphasia and considerations for selecting and incorporating AAC strategies into an overall communication "package" will be discussed. Specific strategies for three types of communicators (controlled situation, augmented input, and comprehensive communicators) will be described and illustrated in videotaped segments. Instructional techniques also will be briefly reviewed
