Summary
Pierce examines personal narratives concerning conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while noting an underlying theme of similar events in each of the stories. These consistencies include: an individual feeling that something is missing from their life, the introduction of the gospel from a close relationship, a pivotal moment that turns the individual to conversion, and obstacles that seemingly fight to keep the conversion from occurring. He explores how personal variations on this theme strengthen the validity of it

Biographical or historical data
Pierce was born in San Bernardino County in Southern California in 1986. Pierce comes from a family of six children, and parents who encouraged their children to be active in sports and in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the age of ten, tragedy hit the Pierce family and Pierce's father passed on. A year later, his mother remarried, and Pierce's family grew with the addition of three new step-siblings and later two half-brothers. Due to medical problems, Pierce was not able to fulfill his dream of serving an LDS mission, but instead fulfilled one of his other dreams of attending Brigham Young University.
