Summary
Westwood examines the ethnic and cultural traditions of Eastern Indian and Israeli Jew intertwined within her own family. Through interviewing family members, Westwood identifies food as a major difference between her multicultural family and that of mainstream American homes. In addition, differences in clothing, hairstyles, and celebrations are examined. Westwood then discusses how these practices and traditions contribute, not only in the preservation of ancestral culture, but to the forming of individual identity

Westwood was born November 2, 1981 in Provo, Utah. Westwood was raised in the Provo/Orem area until, at age 13, her father moved their family to Columbus, Ohio in order to attend graduate school at Ohio State University, while earning his PhD. Elisabeth upon graduation from Upper Arlington High School, Elisabeth returned to Provo, where, in December of 2005, she received a Bachelor's of Fine Art in photography from Brigham Young University.
