Note
"Quipu was inspired by the specimen which I saw in the Museo Nacional de Antropología y Arqueología in Lima, Peru, in 1991. ... Ann Miller ... developed the calligraphic letters and elements using Poma de Ayala's chronicles as models. The etching was drawn and engraved in plexiglass by me at Protean Press and printed with the good will and guidance of Katherine Venturelli at her studio in Sutter Creek, then folded in the style known of as the "Turkish map" fold. The text typeface is 13-pt. Poliphilus and Blado cast by Michael and Winifred Bixler of Skaneateles, New York. Printed on bianco Fabriano Ingres. Quipu is bound in Lokta fiber paper from Nepal: (Lama Li) Heavy Natural for the covers and (Jazz) Saddle Brown for the endpapers. Design, printing, etching, and binding by Terry Horrigan at Protean Press, San Francisco. 38/40"--Colophon.
