  • Act I - Scene one: "Lucy nervously awaits Joseph's return. Joseph arrives without the Gold Plates. Joseph, Emma & Lucy discuss hiding the plates." -- Scene two: "Joseph describes what the angel has given him. Some locals demand the Gold Plates. Joseph, Emma & Lucy foil their efforts. Joseph sends for Martin & Lucy Harris." -- Scene three: "Lucy Harris describes her visions. The Harrises and Emma await Joseph. Joseph convinces a skeptical Martin to assist him." -- Scene four: "Joseph & Emma await Martin's return. Martin recounts his meeting with Charles Anthon. Joseph & Martin begin translation." -- Scene five: "Lucy Harris searches for the plates in vain. Martin asks to show Lucy the translated pages. Joseph relunctantly agrees. Emma collapses in premature childbirth." -- Scene six: "Joseph mourns his son's death & Emma's health. He nervously awaits Martin's return. Martin has lost the translated pages. Joseph & Martin fear for their immortal souls."

Lucy Mack Smith questions the work's future. Joseph encourages her to keep the faith." -- Scene five: "Local press fervor over The Book of Mormon. Events surrounding Moroni's visits are recounted." -- Scene six: "Joseph & Emma remember their courtship. Joseph boldly testifies of the First Vision."
