Doerflein was born in Annapolis, Maryland in 1988. His family is strongly active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shortly after his birth, His family moved to Denver, Colorado, which is the city Doerflein considers to be home. Doerflein attends Brigham Young University, and plans to serve an LDS mission. He is very close to his family, and strongly believes that rituals are what bind a family together.
